Gainsborough: More new traders for the next Farmers Market

The team at Gainsborough’s Marshall’s Yard marked Lincolnshire Day by concentrating their efforts on building up traders at their monthly farmers’ market.

Launched five years ago, the market promotes high-quality, locally-sourced produce with traders having a wealth of knowledge about their produce.

The team have concentrated on growing and strengthening this offer and have now secured four new traders to join regular stalls such as Redhill Farm and Les’ Wet Fish, at the next market, on Saturday, October 10.

Annabel Plumtree, assistant centre manager, said: “We’ve been working really hard to attract new local producers to our farmers’ markets to strengthen the offer.

“We’ve been really pleased with the take-up for this weekend and also have eggs, venison and beef lined up for November onward.

“In December, we are combining the food traders with crafters for a special Christmas market, which will be joined by live music from the Salvation Army Brass Band and a visit from the Frozen princesses, Olaf and some real reindeer.”

The farmers’ market takes place on the second Saturday of the month, from 9am until 4pm, opposite Britannia House, within Marshall’s Yard.

Shoppers can expect to find preserves, free-range pork, olives, brownies, gluten-free products, pies, fresh fish, bread and a huge selection of cheeses as part of the line-up on Saturday.

There will also be a small tractor display, while American country singer Lynn McFarland will also be performing at lunchtime.
