Gainsborough: Teenager accused of stabbing a 17-year-old girl has been remanded in custody

A 16-year-old boy accused of stabbing a teenage girl at a bus stop in Gainsborough was remanded in custody when he appeared at Lincoln Crown Court yesterday (Monday 6th October).

The boy, who cannot be identified because of a court order, is accused of wounding with intent following an incident in Heaton Street, Gainsborough.

The boy spoke only to confirm his name and no charge was put to him during the six minute hearing.

Judge John Pini QC ordered the prosecution to serve the case papers on the defence team by 13th November and the boy was remanded in custody to appear back in court on Friday 19th December when a plea and case management hearing is due to be held.

The boy was arrested on the morning of Tuesday 23rd September after police were alerted just before 7am.

A 17-year-old local girl was found with what was described at the time as serious but not life-threatening injuries.

She was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, for treatment before being allowed home later the same day.
