Gainsborough: Two men attempted to steal a dog and assaulted its owner

Police are appealing for information following the attempted taking of a dog in Gainsborough on Friday 30th May,

At about 10.15pm a woman took her chocolate Labrador dog for a walk in the grounds of the church in Church Street, Gainsborough.

She was approached by two people who told her they wanted her dog and when she refused, they tried to take the dog, assaulting her in the process.

The woman received some bruising and grazing, but did not require any medical attention. The dog was not stolen.

The offenders are described as two men, possibly in their teens or early 20s. One of them was about 5’6” tall and the other about 5’10”. One was wearing fingerless gloves and a garment covering his face up to his eyes.

Anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the grounds of the church in Church Street, Gainsborough or knows anything about the incident is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 106 of 30th May.
