Ken runs a ‘Hear to Help’ drop-in service in Gainsborough where he offers hearing aid maintenance or information about hearing loss.

He also tirelessly hands out leaflets and flyers at homes, supermarkets and doctors surgeries to help spread the word.

“I was diagnosed with vertigo and unable to go out without a walking stick,” Ken explained.

“Feeling quite down and isolated I was then put in touch with Action on Hearing loss and from then on my life changed.

“I was thrilled and quite honoured when they asked if I would like to volunteer my hearing aid maintenance skills to a new Hear to Help drop-in they wanted to set up in Gainsborough.

“I now run the drop-in sessions fortnightly, meeting many people. My confidence has grown and I am very proud to be a volunteer.

“Without Action on Hearing loss support my life might not have changed for the better.”

Sara Peskett, Action on Hearing Loss’ Volunteer Engagement Manager, said: “We are delighted to be able to honour Ken for his tireless effort and enthusiasm.”
