GainsboroughMcDonald’s is finally here

FOOD fans flocked to Gainsborough’s newest restaurant last week ordering burgers, milkshakes and fries all round.

Fast food giant McDonald’s opened its doors on time and on schedule at 7am last Wednesday and welcomed a steady stream of customers all day.

“There has literally been a queue at the tills since we opened at seven,” said first assistant Catherine Brown.

“It has been crazy - but in a good way.”

First day nerves need not have been a worry for 17-year-old Robert Brand from Gainsborough.

He was grinning from ear to ear on his first day in his first ever job.

“I was really scared on my first day of training at McDonald’s,” he said.

“All through school I always thought work was going to be this big scary thing.”

“But as soon as I arrived they made me feel I was part of the team and I’m actually enjoying it.”

Another new starter Keith Fullwood, 22, also from Gainsborough, said everyone was ‘mucking in’ to make the first day a success.

“From the day of the interview, all through my training and until now the job has been exactly what I was told it would be,” he said.

“You get plenty of support, it’s a friendly place and even the managers roll up their sleeves to get the job done.”

Franchise owner Bob Meadowcroft said the first day of trade had been very busy.

“It’s encouraging. People are clearly pleased to see us here in Gainsborough and we hope they’ll keep coming back,” said Bob.
