Gang charged with £3million fraud from mobile phone hijacking

SEVEN people from South Yorkshire have been charged with a £3 million fraud from hijacking mobile phones.

The gang were charged following a 21 month investigation by police relating to the hijacking of SIM cards for Vodafone and other telecommunications providers.

It is alleged the money that was stolen from the fraud is linked to money laundering offences.

The gang are made up of a man from Doncaster, four men and a woman from Rotherham, a man from London and a woman from Sheffield, who are all aged between 22 and 45-years-old.

All eight were charged in Sheffield this week and have been bailed to appear before City of London Magistrates on Tuesday 8th May.
