Generous donation to Retford Hospital

The Bassetlaw Freemasons have made a generous donation to Retford Hospital.

They recently donated a brand new television to the Outpatient Department for their waiting room.

The donation came about after Neil Airey, chairman of Bassetlaw Freemasons, who is a patient at the hospital asked on his last visit if the Freemasons could help with any fundraising for the department.

It was decided that a television would be beneficial for patients in the waiting room.

Ruth Carnall, staff nurse Outpatient Department at Retford Hospital, said: “When patients come to the department they can be anxious and the TV offers a distraction to patients and can make them feel less anxious about their hospital appointment or procedure.”

Bassetlaw Freemasons donated the money to the League of Friends of Bassetlaw Hospital who purchased the television for the department. The League of Friends raise money for equipment and facilities that benefit patients at Bassetlaw and Retford Hospitals.
