George takes up new role at Boston Stump

A fresh face has joined the team at the Parish of Boston, which looks after the St Botolph's Church, as the new music director.

George Ford began learning the organ at the age of 13.

He has studied at St Thomas of Canterbury Parish Church in his hometown of Brentwood, and at the University of Huddersfield.

Team rector Rev Alyson Buxton said: “We know he will work to enhance the parish’s historic reputation for an excellent choral worship offering, work within local schools, and develop an integrated network of choirs in the community.

“At his interview we were excited by his musical skills, entrepreneurial flair, enthusiasm and obvious ability to initiate and carry forward music projects for the church and town.”

Mr Ford was Organ Scholar in the UK’s largest cathedral music department at Leeds Cathedral.

Currently completing a master’s degree in Music and Management at the University of Leeds, George says he enjoys working with young people and believes it is important to inspire the next generation of church musicians.

A Service of Thanksgiving at 10.30am, on July 24, will welcome George along with the parish’s new assistant curate Jane.
