Get prepared for Retford in Bloom

Spring is finally upon us and once again gardens in and around Retford are beginning to burst with delightful colour.

It is also the time when plans for this year’s Retford in Bloom and residents are encouraged to work towards the show which illuminates the town with floral delights.

This year the compeition wlll be judges in late July and early August, with the presentation ceremony taking place at Retford Town Hall on Wednesday 2nd October, at 7pm.

Nominations are now opened from members of the public in the following categories:

- Best front garden.

- Best floral shop / business front.

- Best public house display,

- Best community environmental project.

- Primary and secondary school. Schools may submit any gardening or growing project they are involved in or they can interpret our special theme for this year - the Queen’s Coronation - 60th celebration.

Next time you stop to admire a garden as you pass it by, make note of the address and when you get home put pen to paper.

Entries are limited to those within the boundaries of the town and can be made by completing an entry form.

Entry forms can be collected and returned to Bookworm on Spa Lane, the Tourist Information Centre, Grove Street or the Denman Library.

Entries should be received as soon as possible with the deadline being Saturday 20th July.

The list of results will be published after the presentation evening in October.
