Get ready for a Lark In The Park

If WATCHING the Olympics has left you with bags of energy to use up, this year’s Lark In The Park could be just the ticket.

Richmond Park, on Morton Terrace in Gainsborough, will be a hive of activity on Sunday 19th August from 12 noon until 5pm.

“We have loads of stalls and games, crafts and activities,” said Caz Carnell, vice-chairman of the Friends of Richmond Park, who organise the event.

Many of the games have a vintage feel, taking you back to the old fashioned fairground days.

Kids will love games like the coconut shy, hook a duck, splat the rat, hop scotch, roll a penny, play your cards right and bean bag games.

They can have their faces painted, get photographed with Micky and Minnie Mouse, go bonkers on the bouncy castle and have a go at table tennis and croquet.

Older children and grown-ups will also have plenty to keep them busy, with a brick-a-brack sale, arts and craft stalls, artificial flower making sessions.

Throw in a running track, tug-of-war, bird of prey, three hour Zumbathon, sponsored head shave and performances from the Performing Arts Club of St John’s, and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a great day out.

“I’m expecting to dance like I’ve never danced before and I hope everyone else will join in too,” said Caz.

“The Royal Jubilee was a small event we managed to put on and despite bad weather we were thankful to the public who turned out.”

“We hope Lark In The Park will be even bigger with something for everyone.”

“We want to thank all the committee members and town council officers for their continued help and support.”

“We hope to be able to do more events throughout the year.”
