Giant pumpkin for hospice

Look at this whopper!

The eight-and-a-half stone pumpkin has been donated to Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice by Derbyshire man Bill Cobb.

The pumpkin will now go on display in the centre of the hospice’s garden in North Anston, once it has been hollowed out and a light put inside.

Bill, from Dronfield, who has won prizes for his pumpkin and other oversized vegetables, said: “The allotment I have has been mine for 46 years, I’ve grown all kinds of veg, parsnips that are five feet long and carrots four foot long.”

Bill son Peter came up with the donation after the pumpkin won a prize in the town’s horticultural show.
