Girl says goodbye to lengthy locks for Little Princes Trust

Ruby Doncaster, nine, had grown her hair for more than a year to get enough to cut off and donate to the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

The cost of making a wig is £350 and then the wig is supplied to the child for free.

Ruby raised £410 with the support and encouragement of friends and family, Ruskington Chestnut Street CofE Primary School and 2nd Metheringham Brownies and she also, on her own, baked and sold more than 140 cakes.

Ruby’s 10 inches of hair were recently cut off at a Brownies evening in front of the whole pack.

When asked why she did this, Ruby said: “I wanted to make someone else happy”.

Her family said: “Ruby is a beautiful, inspirational, courageous, and caring young lady who we are very proud to have as a daughter/sister.”
