Golden couple's marriage secret is saying '˜sorry'

Mike Crashley,71, who was born in Louth and Sandra Crashley,70, from Boston, who now live in New Zealand travelled back to their respective home towns last week and marked their special occasion with family and friends and held separate celebrations in both towns.

The couple met at The King’s Head pub in Louth and got married in Boston in 1966.

They officially marked their anniversary on April 30 and with the couple being avid travellers, always enjoy returning home and have spent many years travelling the world - with more trips planned for later in the year.

Sandra said: “Over our 50 years of marriage, we have fallen both in and out of love with each other.

“But the one key thing that has kept us together is always to say sorry when it is needed. We never leave things on bad terms and often say sorry before we go to sleep.

“We find it is also important to have separate interests. Of course we have shared interests as we love to travel, but Mike has a big love for Croquet and his team recently won the World Championships – but it doesn’t interest me at all.”

The couple moved to New Zealand when Mike got a job with Cadbury’s and worked with them travelling the world for 26 years before he retired.

Mike said: “We have four children,two which were are adopted; Mark, Jane, Adam and Donna. Let’s just say when I worked for Cadbury’s my children were very popular with their friends.”

They also have 13 grandchildren and one adopted great grandson.
