Chelsea Hamilton attended Caistor Grammar School where she achieved her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

And she travelled to London to be presented with her certificate by Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

The Gold Award Presentation (GAP) was a celebration and recognition of Chelsea’s achievements in completing her Gold DofE programme.

“DofE improved me as a person; the difficult challenge only encouraged me further to complete all aspects of the award,” said Chelsea.

“I have gained skills such as determination and self-confidence I would not have gained anywhere else.

“I enjoyed my experience so much and I would definitely do it again if I could.”

The GAP is a unique event and a fitting culmination to mark the hard work, determination and perseverance required.

Chelsea worked tirelessly through the five sections of her DofE programme over a number of months.

Her diverse activities included volunteering within the Guiding Community, learning to dance and taking part in a residential at a Swedish Christian Youth Camp

And her Gold Award helped her gain the confidence she needed to strive in her aspirations to become a vet, showing potential universities and employers her skills.

Throughout her DofE, Chelsea was able to prove herself to be a great team member, compassionate to others and determined to reach the end goal.

“I urge any young person with the opportunity to take the Award up as it is such an exhilarating experience,” added Chelsea.
