Golden gift for coronary care

A Caistor couple marked five decades of marriage by giving something back to the people who made sure they were around to celebrate it.

Ann and Malcolm Scott, of Tennyson Close, celebrated their golden wedding with a party for family and friends at Ludford Village Hall.

Instead of gifts, the pair held a raffle to raise money for the coronary care ward at Grimsby Hospital, where Anne had been treated just months earlier.

Their generous guests dug deep for this special couple and raised £637 for the hospital.

“We wanted to do something for the ward that did so much for me,” said Ann.

“They saved my life; I wouldn’t have been able to celebrate this wonderful occasion if it hadn’t been for them. They were all wonderful.”

Anne and Malcolm handed over the money to the ward staff on a recent visit to the hospital.

“It was lovely to see them all again,” added Ann.

“We would like to thank all our family and friends for helping to raise the money and helping us to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.”
