Grand effort nets £1k for Aurora

A GRAND effort by pupils at Tuxford Academy has raised £1,000 for the Aurora wellbeing centre in Worksop.

The money was raised by doing a non-uniform day and sponsored cake sales. They showed their generosity by handing over the bumper cheque to Aurora fundraiser Sally Richardson.

“This is not the first time Tuxford pupils have supported the appeal,” she said, thanking them for the donation.

The school also donated another £1,000 to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Aurora is the Guardian’s adopted charity for 2012.

Its aim is to help boost the confidence of people recovering from cancer-related treatments through a range of professional beauty therapy treatments and advice on skin care, hair loss, colour therapy and wellbeing sessions.

Aurora has also been working hard over the past year to transform Worksop’s old library on Memorial Avenue into the Aurora Wellbeing Centre.
