Grant boosts renovation of Hundleby parish rooms near Skegness
Council grant boosts renovation project at Hundleby Parish Rooms
Hundleby Parish Council has received £15,000 towards accessible toilet facilities, as part of renovations to the Parish Rooms in the village.
The venue hosts a range of regular community activities and events including Tai Chi sessions, a community choir and a community café.
Put forward by local county councillor, Coun Philip Roberts, the project was successfully awarded the money from Lincolnshire County Council’s Strategic Grant Fund.
Coun Roberts said: “I applied for a strategic grant for the parish council as soon as the council’s grant fund launched, because I know how hard they are working to renovate the parish rooms, and how hard it can be to raise funding in small communities.
“It’s a valuable community asset and improving the accessibility means more people can benefit from it. I was really pleased we were able to help because this is exactly the kind of project that the grant scheme is for. In addition, I have allocated funding from my divisional grant for a new dishwasher in the parish rooms to further support the parish council’s efforts.”
The parish council started renovating the parish rooms seven years ago and has already replaced the kitchen and the roof and roof structure to part of the building. Much of this work has been done with other grants and their own fundraising efforts.
The latest grant funding from the county council will bring the work further towards completion.
Lynette Corten-Miller, Chair of Hundleby Parish Council, said: “We’re really grateful for this funding from the county council that is helping us modernise the Parish Rooms and make them more accessible.
“This is the only community venue in the village – and many of the villages around us use it too because they don’t have anything like this. Our toilets are used by visitors to the church next door so it’s really important they can be used by the whole community.”
