Grant for Louth Run For Life

Louth Town Council has agreed to give a small grant to this year's Louth Run For Life - despite some councillors expressing annoyance that the group '˜always' applies for grant money after the deadline has closed.

Coun Chris Green said he supports the fundraising group, but added: “They are always told they need to apply when the applications are open, and they always come back the following year and apply afterwards.

Coun George Horton said it could ‘open the floodgates’ to late applications if the council agreed to give a grant, but he suggested that a £100 grant could be given to the group this year, with a warning that they would receive no grant at all if the same thing happens again.

This was ultimately agreed by the town council.

Coun Fran Treanor said that in future, the group could consider holding a few hundred pounds back from the tens of thousands of pounds raised each year to cover costs - such as medals - for the following year’s event.
