Guard of honour gives a fitting tribute to former Sleaford firefighter

A long-serving Sleaford firefighter was honoured on Friday last week by fellow service members at his funeral.

William ‘Bill’ Ullyatt, of Sleaford died aged 86 on April 16.

He had served as a retained firefighter for Sleaford and it was arranged for his coffin to be transported to St Denys’ Church on board a vintage fire engine, which drove in procession through the town on Friday afternoon.

Serving firefighters formed a guard of honour at the entrance to the church for the passing of his coffin.

Donations from the mourners went to the Fire Service Benevolent Fund and St Barnabas’ Hospice.
