Guardian Rose Awards 2014 winners

As presenter Danny Oakes of Capital FM said in his opening speech, ‘it’s not all bad news.’

And the annual celebration at the Masonic Hall in Worksop on Thursday 9th October highlighted what generous people live in our communities.

From a four-year-old who called for help when his nan fell down in a cemetery, to a quick-thinking teacher who potentially saved the life of one of her pupils, to family members who couldn’t do enough for their loved ones.

As each story was told, you could hear a pin drop. You couldn’t help but look around the room and see the happiness that these people had brought to so many lives.

In total there were 11 accolades and as each winner and highly commended award was presented, the audience showed their appreciation with a rousing round of applause.

The ceremony was also attended by Bassetlaw District Council leader Simon Greaves, deputy leader coun Gryff Wynne and MP for Bassetlaw John Mann.
