Guardian Rose: Selfless support worker Sally has helped hundreds of Worksop crime victims

Sally Potter, who is based at Worksop Police Station, became a volunteer for charity Victim Support in 1993, moving up the ranks to become a paid member of staff in 1999.

In this highly challenging role, Sally has strived to provide outstanding support to victims of crime in Worksop, becoming well known in the town for her selfless and deeply caring nature.

Long-standing colleague and friend Gina Young, who also works at Victim Support, presented Sally with the Guardian Rose on Monday 30th March before her last day on Tuesday 31st March.

Gina said: “Sally has a heart of gold.”

“She has always shown so much passion towards her job, as challenging as it can be, and has done outstanding work for people who have been affected by all types of crime from burglary to murder.”

“She is truly an ambassador for Worksop. I met her in 1998 and have been impressed by her dedication ever since.”

“As well as her role here at Victim Support, Sally also volunteers for the army cadets in Worksop, so is incredibly involved in the community.”

“I have no doubt that dozens of people across the town will see Sally in the paper and remember the help she gave them.”

“To be honest, I don’t know how we’re going to cope now she has retired! But we wish her all the best.”

Sally said: “Being presented with a Guardian Rose was very surprising, but absolutely amazing.”
