Half-term activities at Rufford Abbey Country Park

NOTTS County Council is holding a series of free and fun events to enjoy at Rufford Abbey Country Park this half-term.

As well as an opportunity to see Nornay Shire Horses at work at Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve, there are a host of events at Rufford starting from tomorrow (Wednesday 20th February).

Meet at the Coach House Courtyard at 2.30pm or 3.45pm and join a costumed guide for The Monk’s Tour - a very special look at Rufford Abbey’s historic ruins.

Follow Brother Ezekial back from the modern country park into the 12th Century and hear what life was like for a monk in Rufford’s medieval monastery.

The tour is suitable for young and old, but please note it is limited to a maximum of 30 people on a first come, first served basis.

On Thursday 21st February there will be a Bugs, Birds and Beasties event from 11am to 3pm - featuring a day of stories and songs at Rufford Abbey to celebrate the natural world.

Storyteller Sarah Law will be performing in and around the Rufford Abbey Courtyard for the event which is aimed at children aged 5+.

And on Friday 22nd February, the country park will be hosting The Housekeeper’s Private Tour - Rufford Tales with Nicky Rafferty.

The year is 1906. Meet Mary Guscott, Lord Savile’s friendly and chatty Housekeeper, at 2pm in front of the Abbey steps for a special tour in and around the historic house, finishing at the Coach House.

These and many other leisure activities are listed on the county council’s What’s On website at www.nottinghamshire.gov.uk/whatson.
