Harrowing role for Isle’s Sheridan

Isle darling Sheridan Smith was back on prime time television last night (Monday), in a more sinister role than of late.

The starlet played a murder victim in The Widower, that charts the life of actual convicted murderer Malcolm Webster.

Psychoville star Reece Shearsmith is Webster in the drama, that was shown on ITV at 9pm.

Action is set over 13 years, and Smith, who also played a criminal’s wife in a previous acclaimed TV drama, Mrs Biggs, took the role of Webster’s wife Claire, who came to a grisly end at the hands of her husband.

Webster was jailed for a minimum of 30 years in 2011 for murder, and for the attempted murder of his second wife.
