Hannah Robinson will join the 13 mile race through the centre of Sheffield in May.

The 17-year-old was inspired to raise money for Weston Park Hospital after her auntie, Mave McNeely, lost her battle with lung cancer last April, aged 59.

Hannah said: “I was incredibly close to Mave, and when she passed away I was determined to give something back to Weston Park Hospital, where she received such devoted care and treatment.”

Weston Park Hospital is one of only four specialist cancer hospitals in England and treats patients from across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Notts.

Hannah, who is studying Health and Social care at Rotherham College of Arts and Technology, added: “I’m not at all nervous about taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon after completing a 5k race just last year.”

“My main aim is to raise as much money as possible for the hospital, which will always have a special place in my heart.”
