Harworth: Man jailed for two years for possessing drugs worth more than £1,000

Scott Southall, of Harewood Court, was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and one count of possession of a Class B drug after more than £1,000 worth of cannabis and M-Cat were found in cars he was travelling in.

The 25-year-old, who had previously pleaded guilty to the offences, was sentenced to two years in prison when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court last Thursday.

Southall was initially arrested in December 2011 when officers stopped a car in Waterslack Road, Bircotes. He was carrying a black bag containing dozens of sale-ready wraps of M-Cat and cannabis.

While on bail for this offence Southall was arrested once again in February 2012 during another vehicle stop in Newgate Street, Worksop. The car was searched and Southall was found to be in possession of a small amount of cannabis and around £500 in cash.

Detective Constable Adrian White, of Worksop CID, said: “Southall obviously didn’t learn his lesson after being caught with drugs the first time, let’s hope his further education in the form of a jail term will finally help it sink in.”

“Let this be a clear message to anyone involved in drugs that we will catch you and we will seek to put you in front of a judge. Illegal drugs create a vicious circle of addiction and crime, poisoning our communities, and we will not tolerate it.”
