As always, it was a chance for members to get together and recognise achievements and landmarks of both individuals and groups, as well as providing a day of entertainment.

Guest speaker was costume historian Meredith Towne, who kept everyone entertained with her presentation on the history of hats.

She also showed how social development has been linked to what is worn on the head.

This year, National Chairman Janice Langley also attended the event and spoke about the relevance of the organisation, which celebrated its centenary last year, in today’s world.

Mrs Langley also handed out the certificates to recognise long-standing individual WI membership and WI anniversaries.

Receiving a 60-year membership certificate was Pat Wolley of Keddington and Louth Park WI, with the WI itself marking its 95th anniversary.

Celebrating 55 years was East Barkwith & District WI, with South Elkington 70 years, Legbourne & Little Cawthorpe WI 80 years and both Keddington & Louth Park WI and Manby & Grimoldby WI a whopping 95 years.
