Health commissioners shortlisted for national awards

BASSETLAW’S future health commissioners have been rewarded for their work by being shortlisted for two national awards.

And from April 2013 local GPs will form part of Bassetlaw CCG which will take over responsibility from the Primary Care Trust.

They will make key decisions, supported by NHS managers, as they become responsible for commissioning health services as a statutory NHS body.

But already the group has been making waves in the healthcare arena, being shortlisted against other CCGs across the country for prestigious awards.

On Tuesday 30th October the Bassetlaw CCG will be vying to win the Most Advanced CCG in the National Association of Primary Care’s ‘Vision Awards’.

The winner will be the group that has already brought on real change among local GPs, tackled the local NHS structure and achieved results on a large scale.

Then Bassetlaw CCG will go up against five others to become Commissioning Organisation of the Year at the Health Services Journal awards on 20th November.

“I am delighted that the hard work of the team has been recognised twice nationally,” said Dr Michael Ho, member of NHS Bassetlaw CCG and a Retford GP.

“I am proud of the focus on quality within the CCG, of the improvements we have made for patients and hope we can continue to work with patients and our partners to achieve our ambitions for the future.”
