Throughout North Lincolnshire there are a range of local healthcare services available for you to go to, some without the need for an appointment, if you have a minor illness, ailment or injury.

Dr Margaret Sanderson, CCG Chair said: “First and foremost look after yourself. You can often self-treat many minor illnesses and injuries at home by keeping your medicine cabinet and first aid kit well-stocked. Give yourself time to get better - most simple ailments will begin to improve within a couple of days.

“If you do need professional help you can get fast, confidential and expert advice and treatment for many minor ailments and injuries from your local pharmacist, without an appointment. They can give you advice on the best over the counter medication for common complaints that suit your condition and are compatible with any other medication you may already be taking. If your pharmacist is unable to deal with your condition, they can advise who else would be able to help you.

“If you have a complaint that is not improving or suddenly gets worse, or you are unsure what to do or who to see, call NHS 111. NHS 111 can advise on self-treatment options or direct you to the right place for treatment. Calls are free* and lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

“The emergency dentist is available if you have dental pain that cannot be controlled by painkillers or you experience bleeding following an extraction or dental injury. To book an emergency appointment, you can call the emergency dentist on 01724 858969 between 9am and 1pm.

“Our Accident and Emergency departments and 999 services continue to be very busy and in a number of cases patients could have sought treatment elsewhere. To ensure you receive the right treatment as quickly as possible, please consider which of the alternative options is right for your needs and think twice before you head for A&E or dial 999.”
