They were available in store in the week ahead of World Cancer Day last Saturday for a suggested donation of £2.

Such was the support in Boston the bands had sold out by 10am on World Cancer Day itself.

Stephen Bromby is the community champion at Asda, in Boston, and on a couple of occasions during the week manned a stall in the store’s foyer where people had the chance to pick up a unity band.

He said: “We’re proud to have been fundraising for these two fantastic charities for the last 21 years. The generosity of our customers never ceases to amaze me.”
