A team will be displaying draft plans for the Marina and Country Park as well as looking for opinions on where future housing could be situated and what facilities are needed.

The event is being held at Shireoaks Sports and Social Club from 7pm, and includes a race night and refreshments.

A spokesman for Shireoaks Parish Council said: “Planning and housing developments have been in the news recently and the Neighbourhood Plan is one concept which the Government has created to allow local communities to have a say in the design and facilities of their villages.”

“The plan will form part of Bassetlaw Council’s planning policy for the next 17 years.”

“It is hoped that many residents will come together to strengthen the community spirit and take this opportunity to have an enjoyable evening whilst at the same time contributing to this very important project.”

Pupils at St Luke’s Primary have already given their ideas for the village’s future and have designed a logo.

A survey has also been sent to all households in the village.
