Although the exact details of its discovery are not known, the medieval ring was unearthed in Hemingby by an enthusiast while metal detecting back in 2007.

Approximately 7mm in width and engraved with a repeating design, the ring is described by the sellers, Berganza Ltd, as ‘an extremely rare medieval silver gilt band ring dated circa 15th – 16th century AD’.

The ring, which has documentation from the British Museum and the Portable Antiquities Scheme, is already attracting a lot of interest.

It is expected to sell for £2,450.
