Hockney inspires art group

On Wednesday 15th May the IBIS art group held their annual exhibition at Anston Parish Hall. Jennie Hinton and the members of her art group create original botanical illustrations which record the plants and trees of Anston Stones Wood, an area of national historical importance. The paintings were then donated to the local parish council archives.

Beautiful, detailed water colours and drawings were on display including pictures of hellebores and various native plants from the wood.

This year the group tried something completely different by painting scenes from the wood in the style of David Hockney, with a riot of colour and very different to the usual style of botanical illustrations.

Coun Judy Dalton also presented a the group with a £100 cheque from her Community Leadership Fund.
