Horncastle Lions roar into action

Horncastle Lions turned out '˜mob handed' to clear the overgrown paddock at the town's Community Centre.

The Lions’ work was also the first stage of clearing the top of a section of Roman wall to allow a ‘condition survey’ to be carried out on behalf of Heritage England.

Horncastle’s Roman wall, once 5m thick was described by the TV archaeologist Ben Robinson of Heritage England as being one of the top twenty five Scheduled Monuments in the country.
