Members of the Horncastle Neighbourhood Policing Team will be on duty, launching their new project called ‘Community Policing Matters.’

The new initiative will involve a number of engagement events and street surgeries being held in different locations, giving residents the opportunity to meet their local PCSOs and chat about issues of concern.

The first event is tomorrow and officers will by ‘on duty’ alongside market traders.

It is planned that the stall will be held on a monthly basis.

PCSO Nigel Wass said: “We are looking forward to plenty of visitors to our stall.

People can raise any concerns or worries they have. We’re happy to chat.

“For example, the Scam Awareness Month campaign is drawing to a close so meeting people will give us a good opportunity to raise awareness of the many different scams out there - and how we can protect ourselves and our vulnerable relatives and neighbours”.

The idea of the new project is to build on the successful ‘Spill The Beans’ sessions when police met residents in a town coffee shop.

The launch comes amid recent concerns about the number of officers in the town following the resignation of one PCSO and the pending retirement of another.

Lincolnshire Police say they are happy with numbers and add that levels of crime and anti social behaviour in the town are ‘very low.’
