Horncastleis one of thesafest places, say police

Horncastle is one of the safest places in the county to live.

That is the reassuring message from the town’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Speaking at a town council meeting last week, PCSO Nigel Wass said the latest crime figures for Horncastle showed a continuing downward trend in reported crime.

He said that in a two-month spell covering the summer holidays, there had been 218 incidents reported to police.

He revealed around 160 of those had resulted in actual ‘victims of a crime’.

PCSO Wass said seven burglaries had been reported in the two months, but none involved thefts from homes.

He said there had been 34 reports of anti-social behaviour but the majority of those involved disputes between neighbours.

Questioned by councillors, PCSO Wass said the figures were some of the lowest in East Lindsey, if not Lincolnshire. He said police would continue patrols and urged the public to report offences or suspicious behaviour.

The comments came after recent concerns over the number of officers in Horncastle.
