Hospital events open to the public

This is the message representatives from the Alzheimer’s Society are trying to promote as more and more people sign up to become ‘dementia friends’.

Emily Cross, who works for the Alzheimer’s Society in North Lincolnshire, will be presenting at a Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLaG) members event next week to try to get more people involved.

The session - which members of the public are invited to attend – will be on Tuesday November 18, in function room one at the Civic Centre, Pittwood House, Scunthorpe, from 2pm to 3pm.

Emily said: “Dementia friends are becoming invaluable across the country as it is a sign that more people are being made aware of the condition and are supporting those affected.

“I welcome anyone with an interest in dementia or wanting to find out more information to attend my session. At the end there will be a chance for people to sign up as a dementia friend, there are no obligations to this, it is to state that you are aware and acknowledge the everyday challenges someone with dementia might face.”

Following this event on the same day, Scunthorpe hospital’s governor and member forum will take place in the same location, which brings an opportunity for members of the public to meet their local Trust governors and find out more about current Trust issues and developments.

The forum is open for anyone to attend and items for discussion can be brought to the attention of the governors by contacting the Foundation Trust membership office – call (01724) 387946 or email [email protected]

Please give notice as soon as possible to enable governors to consult and get answers to queries before the meeting.

For anyone who would like to meet with or discuss an issue with governors on the day, an informal drop-in session will take place in function room one from 1.30pm for half an hour.
