Hundreds attend annual Tichill Gala

In addition to the hundreds that attended the Tickhill Gala it appeared that even the rain showed up to the annual festival.

The carnival, held as a fundraiser for the Tickhill Scout and Guides groups, featured a parade of floats, including entrants such a local football club, Tickhill Juniors and their chosen theme, the popular Nintendo gaming franchise, Mario Brothers. Cycling club Tickhill Velo took a ride on the back of a Ford Transit with a vibrant display of pink balloons and banners (pictured). Primary schools, Tickhill Estfeld and St Mary’s also entered floats and were later rewarded with 1st and 2nd places in the competition for the best theme. Gazebos and stalls lined the recreation ground. One stand offered people the chance to hold rescue guinea pigs in order to raise money for Guinea Sanctuary Cavy Corner.

Despite the rain, Tickhill bustled with people, and on its 43rd year running it’s safe to say that the tradtional gala will continue to be held annually for some time.
