IN PICTURES: Fete fundraiser proves a success

The Red Lion pub, owned by Sharon Bratton and Phil Beetham, staged the event with help from many Newton residents.

About 100 people attended the fete, and enjoyed outdoor activities such as hook a duck, a coconut shy, and a challenge of strength.

“Thank you all for coming and sharing the day with us.

“Let’s hope we pick a sunnier day next year.”

Entertainment was provided by two bands, Indigo and The Welberries, and there was also Morris dancing from the Bourne Borderers.

Towards the end of the day visitors ventured inside the pub to get warm and dry.

Burgers, chicken skewers and fish and chips were provided throughout the day, with a hot buffet and disco in the evening.

Proceeds from the fete in general will go to the village church, which took part in proceedings, with a book stall, tombola and refreshments.

Funds raised from the raffle of a specially made fete cake will go to St Barnabas Hospice, which provides end of life care for people in Lincolnshire.

A fundraising total has yet to be finalised, with organisers due to hold a meeting to work out the figure.
