Inspirational story of the Worksop mum who founded a charity for bereaved families after losing her twin babies

Emma Pearson launched JOEL: The Complete Package in 2013, two years after the stillbirth of her sons Noel and James “tore her world apart”.

The 33-year-old was determined to give something back after receiving “amazing” care at Bassetlaw Hospital during her ordeal.

She is currently attempting to raise £35,000 to renovate a room on the labour ward at the hospital for grieving parents.

Emma said: “JOEL has not only benefited other people, but it has also helped me tremendously.

“Nothing can prepare you for the devastatation of losing children.

“Helping other families in that situation has really aided me in my recovery.

“I’m determined to cover the whole spectrum with JOEL.

“It’s not just for families who have lost babies, but also for those who are expecting again after the loss of a child.

“When I got pregnant again after losing my twins, I was utterly terrified.

“I want to make sure that everyone is cared for.”

Thanks to combined fundraising efforts from the community, JOEL has raised more than £19,000 towards the new bereavement room at Bassetlaw Hospital – with just under £16,000 to go until the charity meets its target.

Emma said: “The room is currently very clinical looking, with no window.

“Our plan is to renovate it from head to toe, giving bereaved families a homely and private place to come to terms with their loss and receive the best care possible.”
