Investigation launched after 52-year-old man critically injured in Dinnington

Detectives have launched an investigation to establish how a 52-year-old man came to suffer life-threatening injuries in Dinnington.

In the early hours of Wednesday, December 2, the man is believed to have been injured in the Addison Square area, near to the junction with New Street.

He has significant head injuries and remains in hospital in a critical condition.

Detective Inspector Mark Monteiro, from the Force Crime Unit at South Yorkshire Police, said: “At this time, the circumstances surrounding this man’s injuries remains unclear and we must keep an open mind while we carry out some initial enquiries.

“As part of our investigation, we will be sending letters to residents, asking them if they saw or heard anything suspicious or unusual in the area between midnight and 4am on Wednesday 2 December.

“We’d also be very keen to hear from anyone who might have CCTV cameras that cover this area, as we try to piece together what happened.”
