Isle driver escapes ditched car

A driver escaped his car after becoming stranded in a deep roadside ditch filled with water.

Ambulance staff treated the man at the roadside after he managed to break out his vehicle.

The incident involving one car was on Idle Bank between Sandtoft and Doncaster Road at around 6.30pm yesterday (Tuesday).

Idle Bank is one route that has become increasingly busy this week, following the temporary closure of Burnham Road at Epworth A161 traffic lights.

The narrow road was closed to traffic for some time yesterday evening. Police are investigating.
