Isle nurses invited to drop in at recruitment event

The drop-in event will take place on Monday December 1, at The Village Hotel in Hessle, from 10am until 9pm. Presentations will be made at 10am and 4pm, snacks and refreshments will be available all day, and staff will be on hand to answer questions and talk about what it’s like to be a nurse at Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole hospitals.

The day is specifically aimed at qualified nurses who are either already working as a nurse in any type of nursing environment, or those who are considering returning to practice after taking a break.

Claire Smaller, head of employment services, said: “This event is part of our recruitment strategy to attract the best nursing staff for our three hospitals.

“The Trust offers nurses a great working environment and conditions that support staff in both their professional and personal lives. We put patients at the heart of everything we do and it’s vital staff share our vision of working together to deliver high quality, safe care for all our patients.”

The Trust has recruited a number of overseas nurses in the past year but also wishes to reach out to its local communities to ensure local men and women who are registered nurses are aware of the opportunities available on their doorstep.

Claire added: “We recognise the things that mean the most to staff and want to continuing strengthening our nursing teams with excellent recruits who really understand the importance of care and compassion.

“This is a very informal drop-in event so I’d encourage any nurses who are interested in finding out more about what it’s like to work at our hospitals to pop along for a cuppa or a bite to eat and a chat.”

Tara Filby, the Trust’s deputy chief nurse, is supporting the recruitment drive. She said: “The Trust is making a continual investment in nursing posts as we understand just how essential nurses are to the delivery of good quality care.

“We’re committed to ensuring we have the right staff with the right skills and values to ensure patients and their loved ones have a positive experience when they come to our hospitals.”
