It’s a night to remember for Spa’s happy Hirsts in awards success

Their sausages have received approval from one of the Government’s top minsters.

Their pies and pasties have won more awards than Rhianna and Ronaldo put together.

So, it’s no surprise to discover that Woodhall Spa-based butchers RJ Hirst have been named Business of the Year in the Select Lincolnshire Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards for 2015.

The family-owned business was also shortlisted for both Producer of the Year and Retailer of the Year.

The awards recognise and reward the people and businesses behind Lincolnshire’s billion pound food and farming industry.

And the Hirsts weren’t the only local business celebrating.

Woodhall Spa’s Village Limits won the coveted the Pub of the Year title while the Sebastopol Inn in Minting was Highly Commended in the Restaurant of the Year category.

The various winners collected their certificates at a ceremony held at Riseholme College, Lincoln last night (Tuesday).

Other major awards went to the Manor House Stables, in Martin, who won Teaching Establishment of the Year.

County Councillor Colin Davie, Executive Member for Economic Development, said: “We’ve had some fantastic winners this year, proving yet again that Lincolnshire’s food and drink is some of the best in the world.

“My congratulations go to the winners, and Select Lincolnshire will continue to do all it can to spread the word about all the county has to offer.”
