Jack’s back on track with Enterprise Award

Jack Page, 25, was handed the RBS Enterprise Award at The Prince’s Trust and L’Oréal Paris Celebrate Success Awards in Derby last week.

Jack has had several heart operations since he was a baby, and had the terrible experience of watching his father die of a heart attack at the age of 15.

This had a huge impact on Jack and his mother, and despite having a third heart operation himself, he found the strength to carry on his father’s pheasant and partridge breeding business for a while.

The money he earned helped support the rest of his family at a difficult time.

Jack wanted to continue running the company but shortly afterwards was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

As a result he failed most of his GCSEs but managed to do well at college, building experience in a variety of agricultural jobs.

Desperate to start up his own business, Jack contacted The Prince’s Trust, and managed to secure the support of a business mentor and a low-interest loan through the Enterprise Programme.

The programme helps young people look into starting their own business.

“I’ve had a total life change since linking up with The Prince’s Trust,” said Jack.

“The emotional and business support I get from my mentor has been liberating and inspiring.”

Jack has since set up a successful business, Lineside Pheasants, which provides birds for shooting and conservation.

The company is now a well respected part of the local business community for its stock quality, service and after care.

Jack sells the birds to local and national farmers as well as small syndicate shoots and large commercial operations.

He plans to expand his stock potential and employ a part time member of staff very soon.
