James jams with White Snake’s Bernie

AN Anston schoolboy has performed alongside a guitar legend.

James Anderson was at a promotional evening in Sheffield where Bernie Marsden, a founder member of White Snake, was appearing.

When Bernie asked for someone to join him on stage, 10-year-old James was chosen.

The Anston Hillcrest pupil then played Hey Joe by Jimi Hendrix on a guitar, alongside Bernie.

“When he asked if anyone would like to join him, a few people wanted to but were a bit intimidated,” said James’ dad Ali. “My lad was sat at the front and Bernie chose him to come up.”

“As his dad it was immensely proud moment.”

James, who people liken to Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin, also received a birthday card from Bernie.

Ali added: “James has a big passion for music. He likes rugby and watching football. He does kids stuff but he likes to play music.”

“Everyone is astonished when they find out how old he is. It’s phenomenal what he can play at his age. He started playing when he was seven.”

James’ next ambition is to meet Jimmy Page.
