Jassies Max closes down - but their sweets will live on down Pawnshop Passage

Louth Market Place sweet shop, Jassies Max, has brought forward it's closing date to tonight (January 21) - but their sweets will continue to be sold at the original Jassies shop in Pawnshop Passage after a deal was struck between the two independent businesses.

Jassies in Pawnshop Passage has been operating as a pancake, ice cream and coffee shop since the shop was bought by 21-year-old Kayleigh Avis in November last year.

But earlier today, Jassies Max owner Nick Heywood and Ms Avis came to an agreement whereby the Pawnshop Passage shop will take on the remaining sweets from the closing Market Place shop, and sweets will now be sold at Ms Avis’ shop - and will help keep the town’s only remaining sweet shop alive.

The decision to sell sweets alongside pancakes, ice cream and hot drinks opens up the possibility of delicious new combinations such as knickerbocker glories and sweet ‘shakes.

The impending closure of Jassies Max was going to take place on January 30, but was brought forward to allow the stock to be transferred over.

Nick Heywood and his wife, Jill, will act as voluntary consultants for Kayleigh in order to help the shop’s transition go smoothly.

The Pawnshop Passage store will begin selling sweets from next week.
