Jordan rides to another personal best in LRRA centenary 25-mile time trial event

Sunday was a busy day for Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club members.

Trevor Halstead, Colin Smith, Dave Day and Paul Reynolds cycled to Tattershall to the Lincolnshire Road Riding Association (LRRA) centenary event which consisted of a 25-mile time trial and display of vintage cycles along with club history.

Jordan Skelly and Trevor Halstead took part in the centenary Championship 25-mile trial. Jordan’s time was 1 hour 07 minutes 14 seconds, a personal best time which won him third handicap. Trevor’s time was 1 hour 23 minutes 13 seconds. Ray Newton was marshalling at the event.

The ride out to Tattershall used the Sustrans National Cycle Network route 1, the Water Railway to Tattershall Bridge then into Tattershall along the A153 to arrive at the event HQ at Gartree Community School.

The club’s race on Wednesday 23rd May was a choice of 15 and eight-mile time trials, starting and finishing on Laughton Lane.

Results: 15 miles - Gainsborough Aegir Cycling Club riders - 1, Jordan Skelly 38 minutes 32 seconds (PB); 2, Simon Hobday 39-15; 3, Joe Noble (juvenile) 41-06 (PB); 4, Trevor Halstead 44-14; 5, Joe Nash 44-40; 6, Andy Clarke 45-58 (PB); private trials (non-club members) - Ian Ferraby (Trent Valley RC) 38-42. Eight miles - Roy Watson 29-07 seconds; private trials - Steve Brown, trike (Scunthorpe RC) 27-45.

On Sunday 3rd June there is a leisure ride to Humber Bridge - meet Roseway, Gainsborough, 7.30am. Wednesday 6th June sees the League 10-mile, start at Knaith on the A156, riders meet lay-by near start 6.45pm, first rider off 7pm.
