Kids experience life as Saxons

CHILDREN at Ranby House School went back in time and lived life as a Saxon in a day trip to York.

Year Four pupils had a fantastic day at Holgate Saxon Village where they made their own ceramic pots.

They ground flour on a quern and then made bread using traditional Saxon utensils and methods of cooking.

The pupils defended the village from Viking attackers and were taught farming methods using traditional tools.

Finally, the children enjoyed a Saxon Banquet in a traditional village hut.

A school spokesperson said it was a ‘superbly interesting and informative day’.
