The ladybirds raise over £1,000 for Nottingham homeless charity

With the usual Tuesday night cycle and Friday night running, group members set their sights set on the first major challenge of the year - the Wall Ultra Marathon.

They completed that on Sunday 23rd June raising over £1,000 for the Nottingham-based homeless charity Emmanuel House.

The Wall Ultra Marathon was reported in Runners World as one of the top five toughest in the UK - and the Ladybirds had a team of six.

Starting in Carlisle on Saturday Morning - the challenge is to run to Newcastle, covering the 69-miles over two days.

Member Martin Ward said: “I am extremely proud to say that all Ladybirds finished putting in some performances that Gainsborough can be proud of.”

Two weeks before some of the Ladybirds also completed the Lyke Wake Walk - a 40-mile walk across the North Yorks Moors. Again the group was raising money for Emmanuel House.

The Ladybirds cycle (mountain bikes only) at 6.30pm every Tuesday, meeting at corner of Love Lane and Nelson Street. Running is every Friday at the same time and place. Typical cycle routes are around 20-miles, with runs anything from six to 10 miles.
