Councillor ‎Liz Redfern (pictured), leader of North Lincolnshire Council, said: “Once again the Government has come up with some extra money for North Lincolnshire. By setting out the budget for the next six years we will be able to prioritise more effectively our future maintenance programmes and provide some certainty to our communities.

“It is welcome news that the council will also get the chance to bid for further money from the Challenge Fund, specifically in relation to significant projects linked to repairs to junctions, bridges and street lighting.

“We also welcome the proposal to introduce an incentive fund scheme starting in 2016 that aims to reward councils that can demonstrate they are delivering value for money in carrying out cost effective improvements. This is exactly what Government should be doing with taxpayers money, and as a local authority, we should be held to account on our ability to deliver a value for money service.

“We have an excellent track record in using asset management techniques to deliver quality, value for money schemes, using where possible, local contractors, so this should stand in good stead for attracting further money.”
